The importance of a funeral service

'Why are funerals important?'

Most psychologists will tell you that we usually have 12 people in our lives we are close with. The moment we lose one of those 12 people, it's a big deal.

When we lose someone we love, it's important to spend as much time as we can celebrating that person's life. Reflecting on those special moments we hold dear and learning that it's okay not to be okay is all part of the process. It's okay to hold onto those moments in our hearts and minds - those moments are going to keep that person with us forever more.

A funeral service provides closure - it provides the space where you can come together as a family to remember those special moments, celebrating, and really supporting each other in love.

There will be times of tears, heartache and laughter - and that is all part of grief.

A funeral is an opportunity to process that grief in whatever way feels right for you. Every service is unique: some are short, long, or have multiple moving parts.

There is always a special moment in every service. When you see a family really coming together and connecting, that is really precious.
