Pettigrew Family Funerals: A story of heritage and legacy
I am Leanne Pettigrew and I am privileged to be the custodian of Pettigrew Family Funerals.
Pettigrew is a family-owned and operated funeral home. Myself, my son, Joel and my daughter, Amy, oversee the day-to-day care of the families who need our support and guidance.
The truth is, that grief touches all of us as we journey through life. My family, along with our staff, are committed to doing what is needed to make a difficult time a little easier when grief touches your family.
In 1969 when my father-in-law Allan and his brothers David and Neil commenced the business, they believed they could make a difference in their community of Wallsend. When they retired, Allan's son Ian was proud to continue the legacy of what the first generation had started.
Then in 2014, Ian and I purchased the business from his family, but sadly he was diagnosed with cancer just six-weeks later.
As my children and I experienced our own journey with grief, we became even more aware of how important the role of a Funeral Director is.
We, like the families we serve, wanted nothing but a perfect farewell for Ian, a goodbye that was reflective of who he was and a celebration of his life; a life well-lived.
Pettigrew is in the fortunate position of being a family-owned and operated business. Therefore, with no shareholders to please, we are able to invest in our facilities, as well as equipping our staff to make sure we deliver on our promise to the families of Newcastle and Lake Macquarie, to make a difficult time a little easier.
