A Mother's Day message from Carolyn Read

Our celebrant, Carolyn Read, shares a touching message for Mother's Day:

"What I've come to know through all the years of doing this is that there is no easy time to lose your mum."

This is why Mother's Day can be such a tough day for some. Our mothers and grandmothers play such different roles in our lives and our relationships with them can vary.

The bottom line is that there is no perfect way to say goodbye. Sometimes its sudden and unexpected, gradual and painful and other times it's the mums having to say goodbye to their children too soon. 

Regardless of what your experience is, we understand what you are going through. 

"I just hope that the people you have around you today are showering you with love and joy and they're making a tough day a little easier on a day when everyone is smiling and saying, thank you, mum. It's hard to put your hand up and say, I don't quite feel that way this year, but on a day when everyone is saying, thank you, mum, just do that. Say thank you, mum. Thank you for everything you've meant to me. Thank you for the memories. Thank you for the influence you had on me. Thank you for the recipe. Thank you for the smiles, the laughter, the tears, and every time I've rolled my eyes. Thank you, mum. All our mums want for us is to be happy, so try and smile today. There may be the odd tear and that's okay. "
