What does a Celebrant do?

A few weeks ago we wrapped up our 'Introducing our Celebrants' series where you got to meet our wonderful celebrants. In each video they spoke about their roles and why they love what they do. They all have a common thread: each of them bring a unique aspect of themselves, as they tune in to the needs of each family individually.

So what is a celebrant?

Our celebrant Carolyn sums this up quiet perfectly:

A celebrant is the person that will look after the service for you. They are the one standing up the front conducting the service just as a minister or a priest would. If you are having the service in a church, a celebrant can tailor the service to exactly what you envision that you would like for your loved one. It can still contain religion as if it was in a church, or you can have none at all. It's totally up to you. Some families come with very strong ideas about what they want the service to look like. Other families need all the guidance in the world, so our role is still to listen, to guide, and hopefully when the service happens, it will be exactly as you want it.

We hope this helps you have some clarity about what a celebrant does. Please reach out to us if you have any questions or need help deciding which celebrant is right for you and your loved one.  02 4951 1166
